Marshall, Thanks. I'm fairly new to genealogy research. Have only been doing it for about 5 years. Several years ago I was in touch with Clyde Mawyer who lives near Lynchburg and he shared all the information that he had at that time with me. I transcribed his notes onto my computer using Family Tree Maker. Additionally, I've searched public records as well as what is available at Jones Memorial Library in Lynchburg. I've really not found much that Clyde did not have other than a few dates and the occasional marriage or child of a descendant. I've made the same assumption as you about Ailcy/Alice and Field/Fielding Smith. Wherever I've searched I've collected Smith information hoping to place Ailcy in a specific family but so far have been unsuccessful. My Mawyer connection is through Frances Helen Mawyer, daughter of Childress Smith Mawyer and Margaret A. McClain. She married George Nicholas Floyd 11 Mar 1875. Their eldest child, John William, was my grandfather. I'm happy to exchange if you think I might have something you need. Betty
