I have some info on Maxie's from Clay co. Ky. (Manchester) My GGF was Joe Maxie born 1865, married Elizabeth Hollingsworth later shortened to Hollin. My GF was George Maxie, also born in Manchester, and lived on Greenbrier road. He married Lotta Valentine. My father was Joe Maxie also was born in Manchester. He married Callie Stevens, Bill and Bertha Stevens was her parents. I was born in and live in Manchester, Kentucky. My GF's birth certificated had his name spelled Maxey but he always used Maxie. There is a huge Maxey Family Genealogy Forum you can search around on. I think from what I've read the name was originally Maxey. Named after a village in England. When The Maxie’s Came to the united states they took the name Maxie as their Last name. There are a lot of Maxey’s that live in London, Kentucky who are relatives to the Clay County Maxie’s, but spell their name with an ey. I’ve Been told that our Generation of Maxie’s came from Virginia, But I am not sure. I would like to know more about the Maxie’s from Clay County, Kentucky if anyone has that information.

Thanks,
Ricky L. Maxie
