Frederick MAYBERRY (Germany to Scotland to New Jersey)

I have some family tradition regarding Frederick MAYBERRY, who researchers state was b: ca. 1730 Germany.

The "family tradition" that I have states that Frederick's family left Germany and went to Scotland due to religious persecution, and he sailed from Scotland to America.

The information also states that Frederick came to America ca. 1740, rather than the ca. 1750 year that I find in all data posted online for him. If the ca. 1740 immigration year is accurate, it would mean that he was likely born ca. 1720, rather than ca. 1730.

The DAR file states that Frederick was born ca. 1722.

Does anyone have anything further regarding this MAYBERRY family being in Scotland prior to coming to America?

Any information will be very much appreciated.
