My grandmother (Emma Ora Mae Gregory Dobkins--her mother, Susan Jane Compton Gregory had a half sister, Rosa Compton, who married a Mayberry and lived in Kentucky. Rosa Compton Mayberry had a son, Calvin Mayberry, who married Lottie------. Rosa's mother was Jemima Lewis; her father was William Edward Compton. I am trying to find out who the parents of Jemima Lewis were. Does anyone have anything on this family. I remember "Aunt Rose" as we called Rosa Mayberry, coming to visit Ora Mae Dobkins, when I was very small. She gave me a little hand-made Native American sewing basket, which I believe I remember her saying was her mother's (Jemima Lewis). I still have the basket, but have hit a brick wall on Jemima's line. I don't even know where she is buried. Any help will be appreciated; and I would gladly share any Compton/Dobkins information.
