Hello Hunters, Are there descendants and/or researchers of the George Fox/Mary Mabry family of Surrey County, Va? It is my understanding that one of the sisters of Hannah Williamson Fox, wife of Richard Fox of Mecklenburg County, VA, was also married to a Mabry. That would have been Sarah Williamson married to George Mabry. There have been attempts to link these two Fox lines together, and I believe that this link may be a significant one, even if this is through the Williamson family. Folks did frequent the same circles of society. The following information was provided me by a Mabry family researcher: >>Surry Co Court Rec. 1701-11, Book VI >>Surry County, Va. Orders: Vol 2: 8 February 1713: Mary Fox, relict of George Fox, relinquishes her right of administration of the estate of George Fox to Francis Mayberry, Jr. Francis Mayberry and next of kind(sic) swears that George Fox died intestate and is confirmed as administrator. In March, May and June of 1713 Francis Mayberry, Jr. was ordered to present inventory and appraisal for George Fox. An audit of the account of George Fox's estate was filed with the court on 19 Aug 1719. (verbatim in Surry County book) I GATHER FROM THIS DATA THAT GEORGE MUST HAVE DIED, CA. 1711-13, FROM THE DOCUMENTS NAMED. HAS ANYONE SEEN ANY GUARDIAN PAPERS FOR ANY BORN OR UNBORN CHILDREN OF GEORGE FOX. I THINK THAT ONE OF THE FIRST DUTIES OF THE COURT WOULD HAVE BEEN TO APPOINT A GUARDIAN FOR CHILREN IN ORDER THAT THEIR RIGHTS WOULD BE PROTECTED WITH REGARDS TO THEIR SHARE OF THE ESTATE. IN THE EVENT OF NO ESTATE, THE CHILD WOULD BE APPRENTICED TO ASSURE THAT THE CHILD'S WELFARE WOULD BE GIVEN EVERY CONSIDERATION, TO SEE THAT HE OR SHE WOULD BE PREPARED TO PROVIDE FOR THEMSELVES WHEN THEY BECAME OF AGE. The Mabry researcher continued with the following: >>George Fox was born about 1680-1685 in Surry Co VA. He was the son of Richard Fox and Mary _____.<< I would very much like to discuss this family of George Fox with someone who has a decendancy from that line, especially if they have a male in their family who still has the Fox surname.
