Hi,
I don't know any other way to say this, but your listing of Samuel A. Maynor as a child of John Maynor and Nancy Downey is wrong.Samuel A. Maynor is included in the other line of Maynors that exists in Jackson County, Alabama.Their are two separate lines there that doesn't seem to connect unless it's much further back.I have traced the other line back, which I am a descendant of, to a William Mainer of North Carolina in 1740. His son, William, is the father of Benjamin, who is the father of Samuel A. Maynor.Samuel's, or Andy as he was called, has siblings of:Sallie or Sarah Ann (Waller), Bryant (my heritage), George W., Bart, and Jordon. They have numerous half brothers and half sisters, as Benjamin was married twice. In the second marriage of Benjamin, he was married to Sabra Jane Ammons. To further illustrate Samuel Andrew to my line, he is listed in the 1870 Census in Marshall County, AL, and then with his mother (Benjamin must have died) in the 1880 Census in Jackson Co., AL.As further illustrate or proove Andy to our line, my great uncle, Lewis lived with Samuel Andrew and Ida in the 1900 Census (1910 if I'm mistaken).Sabra Jane, the mother, is the key here because that ties Andy to the 1870 and the 1880 census, and proves that he is not in your line, but ours.I am intrigued by the data you have on the other Maynor line, and I wonder what connection, if any, these two lines have because they both exist in that part of the country.I have a DNA sample that was put into the Maynor DNA Surname Project at Family Tree.com, and I would love a participant of this line to participate to see if their is any relation. If there is, then, it must be further back, and possibly a sibling of Benjamin, William, William, or further back.If there is a willing participant in your line to send in a DNA sample, please contact Ann Weeks Nelson, the administrator of the project. She has several posts on this forum.I'd be willing to donate.Thanks.
