Hi. Our last name is McAveney and it sure seems to be an unusual one! My grandfather came over from Scotland but everyone tells us the name is Irish. I have been able to trace him back to his grandfather in 1889 but I have had no luck getting further back, so maybe that is when they came to Scotland from Ireland. He was James, his father was Thomas, and his father's father was James. Did any of your family go to Scotland? Catherine McAveney Silva
