McBain's in Middleburgh NY, mid to late 1800's

There were two McBain families in Middleburgh NY (Schoharie County) in the late 1800's. One was headed by James McBain (1833) married to Louisa (1836), and they had 6 children from 1860 to 1876. The other was headed by George McBain (1843) married to Mary (1850), and they had 4 children in the 1870's.

Does anyone have further information if James and George were brothers, when they came to Middleburgh, any information about the ship across the Atlantic (during the potatoe famine?), and any other information relating to their ancestry? I am just starting to seek out some answers and would be very appreciative of anything already known!

I am John MacBain, son of Addison Donald MacBain, son of Wellington Bassler MacBain (1885)(McBain prior to roughly 1900), son of Clarence McBain (1860), son of James McBain(1833). Clarence ran the A&P grocery in Middleburgh.
