Hello!I found your posting is as I was googling for Rachel McBrayer Varble myself. As I googled for her, I found several references to the many books she has written.Try it!
I am interested in information about Rachel as her husband, Pinkney Varble, was the great-grandson of Elizabeth Charity Chunn Warden Kane Foster, and her first husband, Richard Warden.(Elizabeth was my 3great-aunt.)Her letter, dated 19 Oct 1965, is bright, witty, and chatty, and mentions her book, Jane Clemens:The Story of Mark Twain's Mother.I don't know if it is a children's book or not.In the letter, she speaks of Pinkney's mother having left Chunn information at her death that she has consulted in trying to answer a letter from Mr. Wadsworth Clarke in which she thanks him "regarding Thomas Metcalfe."Who either of them was or how they connected I don't know. The only other personal data that she mentions is her return address, and that was South Fort Mitchell, KY.
I'm sorry that I could not be of more help.May I ask that if you have any information about the Warden or Chunn families that you contact me?
Thanks so much.
