Mary McCagne and John McKenzie - 1840s/Scotland

I've just learned the names of my great-grandfather John McKenzie's parents: John McKenzie and Mary McCagne. Alternate spellings of the surname: M(a)cKensie, M(a)cKinzie, M(a)cKensy. My great-grandfather was born in Scotland in December 1841 (possibly as late as 1843). He emigrated to the US in the late 1850s-early 1860s and settled in New York City (Manhattan first, and eventually Brooklyn just before his death in 1901). There are references to Campbelton, Scotland as his home town, but I have not been able to find any additional information about his birth place or his parents. If you know anything about this family, please contact me at
