We are searching for Rebecca and her husband Hugh McCall...they are listed in Hopkins co. Texas Census of 1850..their boys and Dtr, Pleasant, Hugh and Samantha are listed in the 1860 census for that county living in different homes...Hugh sold property that year.No further mention of what happened..I found a Rebecca McCall in an 1860 census of Milam Co. Texas..listed as a laborer, and had numerous children, beginning with Wm age 15 on down to age 2...Rebecca's age is shown as 32 yrs,,, one story that has circulated is that Hugh was gone, and she and the children were taken captive and made to work as slaves....
Anyone have any light on this?
