Rhea County Court Records show Elizabeth McCarroll was tried for murder in Rhea County, Tennessee in September of 1832. Witnesses for the state were Polly Hempt, Jane Griffith (my ancestress), Rebecca Tipton, Elizabeth Goad, Margaret Buck, Edwin Hoverton, and Abraham Miller. Neither the reason for the charge, nor the verdict, were given. Can anyone shed any light on this?
