Hi Carly, Thank you for all the information about your husband's family and where in Ireland they came from. I hope that he will consider DNA testing as it would be good to have someone who represents the McCarroll line from Balleymoney, Ireland. Since Arch and Mary had a lot of children, there are a lot of McCarrolls out there you would benefit in the future from the results of his DNA test. For anyone reading this post who is not familiar with DNA testing and its use in genealogy, your husband carries the same Y-chromosome DNA as his father who inherited that Y-DNA from his father who inherited it from his father, going back in time through the male line. All male descendants of Archibald McCarroll will have the same Y-DNA. Comparing DNA results is an easy way of finding out our male ancestral line.
