"Marita H. McCartney, 74, of Rochester Township, passed away Saturday, May 22, 1999, in the Medical Center,Beaver. Born June 19, 1924, in Fairfax, Okla., a daughter of the late William and Cora Button Carpenter, she was a retired cook with Custom Management at the New Horizon
School, Brighton Township. She was a member of the St. Cecilia Roman Catholic Church, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Unionville American Legion Post 512. She was preceded in death by her hustand, Willis Vernon McCartney Sr, in 1972: a grandson, Christopher Lantz, in 1996; and four
sisters and four brothers. She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Judith H. Matoic, New Brighton, PA; Sandra L. and Richard Lantz, Daugherty Township, and Marita Vern and Frank Hoffman, Economy Borough; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Willis V and Gwen McCartney Jr, Enon Valley; Patrick H. and Carri McCartney, New Brighton, and Michael P. McCartney, at home; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and
numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the WILLIAM MURPHY FUNERAL HOME INC., 349 Adams St., Rochester. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in
Pudentiana Worship Site. Interment will follow in St. Cecilia Cemetery, Daugherty Township. A Christian wake service will be held at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The family wishes memorial contributions be made to the family of Marita McCartney c/o Sandra Lantz, 635 Tulip Drive, New Brighton, PA 15066."
Marita was "triplet" (one of 9 children), she, her sister, Margaret H "Maggie"(Carpenter) Fahrendorf who died 1997 and brother Marvin Harold CARPENTER who died 1981 were all born the same day.
