Paul McClarney d.~1788 Caswell Co NC

Here's a summary of the info I've found on Paul McClarney; most of this comes from the NC Archives & Genealogical Services Department. I'm posting this here because I've been contacted by many McClarney researchers who don't have ready access to this research material.

There's a line of thought out there that says Rosannah/Rose McClarney was married to a Henry McClarney. While there are loads of Henrys in our family, I've found no evidence of one of them being married to Rose. Instead, I've found records which indicate to me that Paul McClarney was actually married to Rosannah/Rose Unknown. They had a son named Henry.

When reading these records, remember that in early times, names were often spelled phonetically and inconsistently. You'll notice variant spellings especially in the land records below, though the acreage in the land entries seems to add up and point to one man. So here goes, and feel free to contact me to compare notes on the McClarneys:
