Dear Jim,
I think I may have the information you are looking for regarding Martha Jane (McClary) Morrison's ancestry.

I am researching the McClarys of Cambridge, Guernsey County, Ohio. Robert J. McClary and his wife Mary "Polly" (McCracken) McClary had a daughter named Martha Jane, who was born in Cambridge, Ohio circa 1834. Since your Martha was married in Cambridge, Ohio, in 1856. This seems to fit.

I looked at the 1850 Cambridge Census, and found Martha McClary (aged 19)listed with her mother Mary, and Mary's presumed second husband, David Morton.

Robert J. McClary, Martha's father died on 17 January 1836, and left his will in Cambridge, Ohio. I have a copy of the will, although it doesn't really offer too much detail. Anyway, I presume that his widow, Mary "Polly" (McCracken) McClary remarried to David Morton sometime circa 1842. A quick check of the Guernsey County marriage records ought to confirm that.

If you'd like any of the info. I have on Robert J. McClary's lineage, or the lineage of Mary "Polly" McCracken. I can certainly give that to you, as I have been researching both the McClarys and the McCrackens of early Cambridge, Ohio, for several years now. I hope we can make the connection.

Just send me an email to as I don't normally check this board.

A McCracken and McClary descendant,
Andy Miller, Columbus, Ohio
