Lori, the information I have on the McClary/McCleary family is as follows: John McCleary was in Campbell County, TN as early as 1818 and probably before. He had a son born 1785 in VA named William. William had sons Clark, John, Jesse Preston and William Jr. The family moved to New Madrid and St. Francis Counties in MO prior to the 1850 census. Eliza's mother received a land grant in Livingston County, MO and that is where I believe Preston and Eliza were at the time of the 1840 census for Campbell County. My great, great grandfather was Alford McCleary. If I can be of additional help let me know.
Glain Martin Ozark County, MO
