Hi Jean, Hope this is still a good email for you. Received your Christmas card today and the information from Greg Fletcher. I think tht the Sarah Viola C. Hughes is a mistake by the census taker. All other records has Viola listed thew ay we are familair with. Never ahve seen teh name Sarah on anything or in the family stories. But I guess one never knows.
I have been playing with Ancestry.com today and found a Robert McClary male born 1781 birth place Virginia married Mary Spears of Virginia who was born in 1787. They married 1805. Source type says Family Group Sheet Source number 2542.039. This information comes from a variety of sources per Ancestry. com.. Could this be a good clue for "our" Robert ?????? Wish there was more and a good citation.
