I am seeking information on William McCleave - my great grandfather - who left Wigtown Scotland in about 1858, with wife Sarah and infant sons Andrew and Alexander - my grandfather. They travelled to Southhampton and took ship to Geelong, Victoria, Australia, then travelled to the outskirts of Ballarat where William worked as a farm labourer, probably with John Clarke at Dowling Forest.

Andrew died at age 6. Alexander grew up and later ran his own business in Ballarat, marrying Beatrice - born near Melbourne - and having six children, my father being one of these.

William's father was David, but I have not been successful so far in tracing any further. Any help appreciated.
