Susan, I started a message to you yesterday, but it suddenly flew off the page, so I'm hoping you did not receive that garbled mess.

I would appreciate any info you have on Samuel McClennen. I would also love to know where you found the news articles. The only news items I have found were from Hornellsville, NY. The reference was to a lodging house owned by McClennans in the 1850's. Much later a member of my McClenin family lived there, but I don't know if there is a connection.

I looked through my McClenin stuff today and found 3 references to a Samuel. They are:
1800 Census Samuel McClennan, Colerain, Lancaster, PA
1830 Census Samuel McClennen, Upper Darby, PA
Burial of Pvt Samuel McClennan 1845-1922, Montgomery Cemetery, Montgomery Co., PA

I have not come across the given name Samuel in my tree. The names that occur most frequently are John, William & Thomas.

I have a hunch that the Philadelphia area may be the area to look for my family as well.

Thanks for responding. Jean Driscoll
