I have a couple of questions that I am wondering if you may have some insight into, being more knowledgable than I about this kind of stuff.

On Mary Lucinda's death certificate, it says just that...Mary Lucinda. I then find her, as you did, listed as Lucinda A. McClaske in the 1880 census.

So what do you make of that? Normally people didn't have TWO middle names back then. She would have been Mary Lucinda A. Tanksley. Sounds fishy and doesn't feel right.

Also, the varient spelling of McCloskey. Do you chalk up the McClaske spelling to a terrible speller/inaccurate census taker, or do you think there could have been a spelling change after their arrival? How would I know? I don't see an arrival date on the 1900 census for James.
