My g-g grandfather was James J. McCloskey (JJ). He was a playwright and actor and worked with Edwin Booth and father. His brother, Felix McCloskey was sergeant at arms for the US Congress. In Felix's obituary it is referenced that he is a cousin of the Cardinal. My McCloskey's are from County Derry and definitely first arrived in Canada in the 1820s JJ was born in Canada and probably Felix was as well -- and then moved to Manhattan in the 1830s. Their father, Henry, was from Maghera in County Derry.

I'm not sure the specifics of the "cousin" relationship but they were definitely from the same county and Ireland and moved first to Canada. (I would guess that this would be expected since they were in the North of Ireland.
