I believe the connection might be through the Myers family of Louis B Mayer who's father was Jacob Myers. Margaret Booth, the second in command at MGM, seems to be Edwin Booths daughter or granddaughter. The connection to Lew Wallace was through his book Ben Hur which put the Mayer family and Carmel Myers on the map.

Lew Wallace introduced a picture of Edwin Booth into the John Wilkes Booth commission by mistake thinking it was John Wilkes Booth.

Of course the Warner's, Selznick's and McCloskey's all lived in Pittsburgh. Lew Wallace's son married the great granddaughter of General Arthur St Clair from Pittsburgh. Then Louis B Mayer daughter married David O Selznick.
