I am interested in the nickname 'Red' and what it may mean. My 3x great-grandmother was Catherine McCloskey who married Joseph Candieux in Toronto 1847 or 48. She had deep red hair she passed on to her children and grandchildren and beyond. It has been diluted over the years but I do have 2 nephews with red hair. Is the red referring to hair or what? I know Catherine was a cousin of some kind to Cardinal McCloskey of NY but that is where I get stuck.
I will look around and see what I can find on Richard, but please explain how you came by the nickname.
