1820 US Census - spellings of surname
Posted by: Jean Coleman (ID *****2283) Date: June 11, 2003 at 10:04:34

I have a CD from Ancestry.com - of the 1820 US Census

the surname is spelled in various ways -

Mac Coll
Mc Coll
Mc Caul
Mc Cauley

always with space between Mc or Mac and last part of surname

If interested, I could look up for anyone that needs a listing for that census - by State, and within the State by
County

I didn't find any other spellings except

Mc Call etc which a census taker could have used instead of the "o" spellings -

Jean
