Daniel Brooks McColl and Mary McColl (Jeffries) emigrated to Canada

My father was also named Daniel. His uncle, Daniel B., was recalled as having emigrated to Canada prior to WW1. The story goes that he and his wife Mary returned to Paisley for a holiday in July 1914. As they could not return following the outbreak of war they stayed in a cottage on the Old Hall Estate. Their daughter Isa McColl worked alonside my aunt Lizzie in a munitions factory while Daniel returned to his old job as Overseer at the Paisley Post Office. After the war ended (their return tickets being still held valid!) the family returned to Canada, possibly Fort William.

I am just a beginner at this Genealogy game, after finding some old papers in the loft! Any help with the Canadian branch of the McColls or the linked Jeffries/Brooks/McLuskie ancestors will be very welcome; I was also told I had a cousin in Sydney, Australia.

Best Wishes, Ian McColl. b1939 in Suffolk, UK.

Best wishes
