This is the bit I have written for my Emigrants booklet. Do you agree with it and is there anything you can add.
Mary Buchanan was born on Lismore at the beginning of the 19th century. It is not clear who her parents were since there are a couple of contenders but she was born at either Balimakillichan or Killean. In 1832 she married John McColl from Kilmelford. He was a shoemaker. In 1841 we find them at 46 Commerce Street, Gorbals, Glasgow with three of their children – Angus Buchanan McColl (b1834 Kilmelford); Christina (b1835 Kilmelford); Duncan Buchanan (b1838 Kilmelford). Their fourth child John Buchanan McColl was born later that year in Glasgow. In 1842 they set off for Canada and settled in Aldborough, Elgin County, Ontario. John carried on as a shoemaker. Mary died in 1892 in Toronto being pre-deceased by her husband John who also died in Toronto. Of their children, Angus, a varnish manufactuer married Mary Leonard who was claimed to be a relative of William Cowper, the poet, and they had 3 children., Alfred Walpole, Clara, and Earnest L. Angus died in Mt Pleasant, York County, Toronto in 1916.
Christina married Donald McGugan and she died in 1873. Duncan Buchanan McColl married Catherine Wigle and they had 4 children, Lewis Everton, Marion, Vera L. and Clarence Victor. Clarence died at 9 weeks. Duncan died in 1870.
John Buchanan McColl, their youngest son, married Emma Wolfe in 1880. He was an oil merchant. They had 6 children, John Wolfe, Frederick (died young), Dorothy Miriam, Monica Kathleen, Brian Bedingfield and Naomi Pauline. John died in 1918.
