hi Barbara,
The McColls that i am related from are from Appin,Scotland they have been there long before the Stewarts. A lot of the records in that area have been lost and distroyed. I am trying to look for Hugh McColl who married Mary Cowan at the end of the 17oos and their son James.They were forced off their crofts (The land clearences)and they left Scotland for a better life in New Zealand. I can find James but records here at that time period are limited .At the start of a new British colony.
I dont know if Hugh and Mary had any brothers and sisters.
I am trying to trace the origin of the McColls.
