Hi Jean, Ancestors with an unusual name doesnt make it easier ... when they've just renamed themselves! it looks like my Paul was actually named Dougal at birth ... and so the search continues with best guessing rather than fact perhaps. Mind you changing a forename rather than yours with alternate surnames, i have to accept would be much the harder quest!. Yes I like your present McColl too, since that is me too! I visited Ardchattan this summer and have some fab photos of Loch Etive, and Ardchattan Kirk if they have any relation to your McColl's I'd be happy to forward them to you.
