Leah Garnet Mcconnehey Raver was my Great Aunt. Her sister
Myrtle Fay Mcconnehey was my Grandmother. I used to spend
summers with Aunt Garnet as she was called by us in
Jonesboro, Indiana when I was younger in the late 1960's
and the early 1970's. I remember her being George Raver's
widow. He must have died before the late 1960's, because
I dont remember seeing him when I went to stay with her.
Do you know Marcia Vanover? Is she and her husband still
in the Salvation Army? I used to see her occasionally with
Aunt Garnet. It has been a long time, but I know Marcia
had at least one son, maybe two at that time. I used to
write to Aunt Garnet when she was in a nursing home just
before her death. She was in a nursing home in Huntington
Indiana. Aunt Garnet also lived in Cincinnati, Ohio.
I used to occasionally visit her at her home there.
I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I remember an
Uncle Frank who I think was a Uncle or Cousin or brother to Aunt Garnet.
He had one leg, he had lost the leg as a young child.
I also remember another sister of Aunt Garnet, her name
was Dorothy. Aunt Garnet mentioned that her grandmother
was Lucy Voshall Mcconnehey, and that her mother was Minnie
Hundley Mcconnehey, and her father was Frank Mcconnehey.
