I am looking for any realitives of the below listed William McCready from Toledo Ohio. This was published in the Toledo Blade.

William R. McCready, a retired Otis Elevator Co. district manager and avid world traveler, died Thursday in Toledo Hospital. He was 89.

Mr. McCready, a resident of Swan Creek Retirement Village, died of a heart attack, his daughter Kathleen Finical, said.

He worked his way up from assistant mechanic to become Otisís district manager, his son, William S. McCready, said.

"During World War II, he had a military deferral because he had to keep the elevators running in the Jeep plants and the hospitals and things like that," his son said.

In 1975, Mr. McCready retired after more than 30 years with Otis, giving him more time to travel the world.

He began his traveling adventures while his children were growing up, taking a vacation with his late wife, Cicely, each fall to destinations such as Ireland, England, France, Italy, China, Japan, and Thailand, Mrs. Finical said.

"I donít think there was a country he wasnít in," Mrs. Finical said. "He took his last trip this past September with our oldest son to Ireland."

Mr. McCready moved to Swan Creek Retirement Village about six years ago, where he delivered the morning newspaper to residents and had his own garden plot where he planted flowers.

He enjoyed gardening, and spent a lot of time in the yard of his home in Ottawa Hills before moving to Swan Creek, his daughter said.

"Our front yard was on the cover of a real estate magazine once because it was so beautiful, Mrs. Finical said.

A member of the Downtown Kiwanis Club, St. Paulís Lutheran Church choir, and the Ottawa Hills Booster Club, Mr. McCready also belonged to the Downtown Coaches Association for many years. The club met every Monday to discuss the past weekendís high school, college, and professional football games.

He was a strict parent who valued education, Mrs. Finical said.

"He was the boss. Both my parents strongly believed in education and that you had to make good grades because you have to go to college to be successful," she said.

Mr. McCready was a regular at Daveís Restaurant on Reynolds Road, where he ate breakfast every morning, Mrs. Finical said. He ordered the same thing every day for the last three years: one egg, two pancakes, two strips of bacon, and a cup of coffee.

Surviving are his daughter, Kathleen Finical; son, William; five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. June 23 at Swan Creek Retirement Village. The Foth-Dorfmeyer Mortuary is handling arrangements.

The family requests tributes to St. Paulís Lutheran Church, Swan Creek Retirement Village, or a charity of the donorís choice.
