I am trying to help a colleague who has the surname McCready, find out more about his background. He knows very little about his fathers side of the family but has told me the following-His father's father was a William McCready born Clare Castle, County Clare, Ireland. He may have been the headmaster of StFlanans College, Innis. He was orphaned young, his father had been a Merchant Navy Officer and was torpedoed in WW1. This is all he knows. Does this tie up with anybody's research? Most grateful for any help. Thank you
