Erin, Washington County, PA is adjacent to Brooke County, WV, whose county seat is Wellsburg. I grew up there. Last year I found in the genealogy section of the library there a family data sheet dated 1998 for an Alexander McCready, b. 1760 in Ireland. d. 24 Feb 1850 in Burgettstown, Washington Co, PA. m. about 1785 to Sarah Unknown, b. 1758, d. 25 May 1847 in Burgettstown. When I tried to contact the person who had prepared the tree, Marveen McCready of Mt. Angel, OR, I learned that she had died in 2000. She lists a William McCready and gives a birth year of 1800 but this appears to be an approximation. No other info is give for William, as her emphasis was on the descendents of his brother Robert.
Robert's son Alexander, b. 1828, married a Nancy Cole, and they had a daughter and three sons, one of whom was named William Alexander McCready, b. 1860. I picked up on all this because after Alexander died Nancy married William Green Smith, a brother of my great grandfather Clarence Andrew Clay Smith. I have a photo of an old Nancy with a young Agnes McCready and it was always a mystery who she was. Marveen's family data sheet shows she was a granddaughter of Nancy, daughter of her son William Alexander. His wife had died when Agnes was 14 months old and he sent her back to Wellsburg to be raised by her grandmother. I would be happy to e-mail you Marveen McCready's data sheet for
Best regards, Kaye Richey
