Matthew, I have done a some research into the family name and the family arrived in Pictish times during Kenneth MacAlpin's reign, from Britany in France, some settled in and around Ayrshire and some settled in the Aberdeenshire area. I knew we had a coat of arms and from that I have had a clansman's badge made, A short arm broken with a sword in hand that I got this made in Inverness, I found that there was no McCready tartan in existance, so I have with the help of my father designed and registered a McCready tartan.
It is registered with the International Tartan Index, Certificate No. 7624, registered on 24th May 2008.
If you or anyone else with the surname McCready would like further information on the tartan, please contact me.
