Clif, sorry for taking so long in getting back to you.
I have looked into my linage going back as far as early 1800's, during this research I checked for any Tartan or family crest & coat of arms, I found the crest & coat of arms, and had a clansman badge made but could find no tartan, or any history, I did find out that in any clan battle the family could wear the McRea tartan, so I went to a master kilt maker & designer and with his help the McCready tartan was born.
The colours and pattern are of new rational thought, as I could find no strong history, the RED background is for the setting sun, the BLUE is for the rivers, the RED & BLUE mix to make PURPLE is for the wild heather, and the WHITE is just added to brighten the whole pattern up.
The pattern was decided by looking at various patterns with the designer on the PC with the colours I had chosen, and he advised the best layout of the colours, and the pattern just fell into place.
I hope this helps you.
