Joseph Gillespie McCroskey b 7 Jun 1806 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, USA m 6 Apr 1829 Christiana Blain Anderson b 20 Mar 1810 in Rockbridge County, Virginia, USA. They moved first to Ohio abt 1830 and then to Sugar Creek, Cedar Co., Iowa, USA arriving Sept 27, 1847. Joseph McCroskey and Moses Bunker (my grandmother's other grandfather) were both major stock breeders in Cedar Co., Iowa and show up in several "vanity press" books. This McCroskey line is Scotch-Irish. The earliest I have is a John McCroskey born in Scotland in 1680. His son that fits my line was born in Ireland in 1715. It appears that Christiana's heritage was similar. The earliest I have on her is a Deaf James Anderson b 1720 in Ireland and died in Pennsylvania. His son, Christiana's father, moved to to Rockbridge Co., VA before 1791 when he married his 1st wife. Christiana's mother was his 2nd wife. Garrettson connections later.
It might be easier to exchange notes by email.
