Your theory sounds good. I got my information from an internet page with no proof so yours makes sense.
This page also had Martha's daughter Mary (Polly) married to Hugh Weir. Mary died unmarried. I saw her will in Greene County. There was a Mary (Polly) who married Hugh Wise in 1812 and that is my ancestor. I'm quite sure she fits in with this family somewhere, but I haven't figured it out yet. I'm leaning toward her being Joseph's sister and John's daughter.
I have Martha's children and some information on the McCroskeys. I don't have any more on the Gillispies.
