I am looking for information on this couple. Elizabeth is a ggg aunt. We have been unable to find much about her, her parents, or her siblings. All we have is a letter that she wrote to her brother, John Crockett Burriss, in 1872 from Morgan County, Alabama. She was 50 years old at that time. In that letter she talks about some of the family members that have died and are buried "in a roe in Shiloe". She gives the nicknames of 2 sisters that are still living, but never names "Momma" and "Papa". There are dates of deaths to go with what I assume are siblings. She states that she was married to Pleasant for 7 years before he died, lived as a widow for 16 years and then married a man named Epperson. She had 2 children (McCroskey's I'm guessing), an unnamed girl who married "a Morrow" and had 5 children and a son, William Francis, who married "the granddaughter of old Benne Thomson". The son's only child died.

I realize this is rather long, but we have been looking for this Burriss family for 40+ years and the letter is all we have. The records from Morgan County were destroyed in a fire many years back, so we are using what we can. If you recognize any of this, I would be eternally grateful for any assistance. My Mom (who is 94) started this search and I'm trying to finish it. Thanks for your patience in reading my note and I look forward to hearing from anyone with ideas of where to go next.
