Hello Jeff! This is an old post but I am hoping that your email may still be active ... if not maybe someone else can jump in?
My ancestor Thomas Hugh McCullough was born in Argylshire Scotland in 1825... his family moved to Belfast sometime before 1843 (though his wife Martha Wilson was also born in Scotland) and left Ireland after 1861 to come to Canada - they settled in Middlesex ON. The family rumor is that they left Ireland because one of his brothers was either murdered or murdered someone...
I have no knowledge of who Thomas's brothers or father might have been and only family rumor that claims he emigrated with brothers to Canada (through New York?). As our ancestors seem to share a common heritage I am wondering if we may have a more direct connection that neither of us are aware of? And I can't help but wonder if you discovered anything new since your original posting.
Thank you!
Jes
