Wendy - Hi!I've been meaning to e-mail you but we've just moved, so everything is in an uproar right now.I haven't e-mailed JAI McCurdy yet about the tartan, but I will soon.I talked to my Aunt Imogene (Lula's youngest daughter). She says she knew Clifford and Maude quite well, and that Oscar actually lived with them for a while. She also said that because Oscar worked for the railroad, she doubts there would be Social Security information for him, as the railroads had a separate system set up (I have to check this out).At this point, I'm trying to find out who the parents of James, Oscar, and Lula were. The billyclubs are very interesting.I don't know if there was an organized police force in Ireland in the early 1800s.I think organized police were a Victorian innovation (Sir Robert Peel comes to mind).Maybe James's father worked for the railroad as a guard.Anyway, I think I'll start with the railroads and see what I can find there.I'll keep you posted! - Nancy K.
