I'm fairly sure that I have information on your Edward. There were six McDivitt brothers and sisters that came to America in the mid to late 1800's. The names and birth years were as follows: John D. McDivitt 1820, Charles McDivitt 1824, James McDivitt 1830, Mary McDivitt 1834, Edward McDivitt 1843 and Margaret McDivitt (about) 1846. I have copies of death certificates for 3 of them and all of them show John McDivitt as the father. The mother's name was spelled different on each certificate. Her name appeared as "Mrs Deacan", "Nancy Deighan", and "Nancy Deghan". John McDivitt, the father, also came to America, although, later in life. He appeared on the 1880 census in Preble County, Ohio living with his son, John D. Assuming that we share the same family, I would love to know what town in Ireland they came from and what was their religion. I tried to send you a private e-mail but it was returned to me. Please send me your e-mail address.
