I was told my ggg-grandmother's maiden name was Donnelly, but now it appears to be McDivett. She was Mary McDevitt, born about 1830 in New York to parents who were born in Ireland. She married Edward Farrell (who was born in Ireland). By 1849, the family was living in Kenosha, Wisconsin. I found the family in the 1860 & 1870 federal censuses in Kenosha, Wisc., but thereafer did not find them. Possible they moved to Chicago where their son John married in 1889. Children of Mary McDevitt & Edward Farrell: Mary Catherine, born Jan. 1849, married Norman Bailey on 29 Sep 1869, Kenosha, WI. John Christopher, born 26 Dec 1850, Kenosha, died before 1850 census. William, born 5 Feb 1852, Kenosha Margaret, born 13 March 1854, Kenosha. Catherine, born abt 1857, Kenosha. John Joseph, born 8 April 1858, d. abt 1920, married 4 May 1889, Chicago, IL, Mrs. Josephine (Lindberg) Lavis. Lived in Chicago thru at least 1900. Elizabeth, born abt 1862, Kenosha. Edward, born abt 1864, Kenosha. Norman, born abt 1869, Kenosha, found in 1900 census living in Chicago. A search of the baptism records for St. James church in Kenosha, Wisc. shows: Jan. 1851 - daughter Catherine born, godparents: Jacob Farrell & Marie O'Brien Dec. 26, 1850, son Christopher John born. Godparents: John Donnelly and Mary Brook. Feb. 5, 1852, son Wiliam born. Godparents: Michael & Catherine O'Brien. March 13, 1854, daughter Margaret born. Godparents: Thomas McCaffrey and Honora Farrell. Other McDivett couple that I can across in the St. James records: Michael O'Brien and Catherine McDevitt, parents of Michael, born Feb. 16, 1853; Godparents: Joan Elizabette? & John Donnelly. Any help on the McDivet lines would be appreciated. Patt Notify Administrator about this message?
