Judianne, I have been on a short vacation and just read your reply.
There were many McD's (spelling???) from Ireland to PN to IA. I have not been able to find anything that would give me a clue as to which of the many Williams would be mine. My William had children in PN beginning about 1859. He, wife, and children were in Boone co., IOWA in 1870. That we have proven ours. Wife died around 1872-76??. We have husband/father and children in KS 1880. My gtgrmother married in 1883 KS, sometime after that father and rest of family moved back to Iowa. Mr. McD died in Boone co., 1901. The (1925,I believe)Iowa Boone co., census gives pertinent info regarding where the parents were born and how long in USA. I DO know there are several McDivitt's in Iowa in the Des Moines area, but I have not found a connection.
I have little info on Anne McCarron, other than what is in the letter; sorry. I have had some contact with a man, but I believe our conversation is on GenForum. In some research, there was mention of Clinton co. IA, but right now I can't say just what.
Perhaps you can give me more on your side of this family and we could go from there.
