If occupation is the barometer, it doesn't look like the tailors and the plasters are related. I'll keep your info and if I make any headway, I'll let you know. Do you know what part of Ireland your McDevitts are from?

Also, it's a shame PARC said the records were unreadable. I have Sheridans that I am researching. They lived in New Castle, DE and the parish (St. Peter's) turned all their records over the the Latter Day Saints and I have looked at the microfilm and found lots of info. It is in Latin, but with a little patience it was quite understandable. For instance, the name Hugonis is Latin for Hugh. I can't make it out word for word, but I can get the gist. I guess I'll have the same problem with my McDevitts in that time period. It's a shame all the parishes didn't send their info to the Latter Day Saints.
