Hello! Seeking information on Margaret McDevitt 1850 -1902.
She emigrated in 1865 and married my GG Grandfather, John McGovern in 1871 in the US. John and Margaret settled in Allentown, PA, where John worked in the Allentown Iron Company and later as a traction (trolley) worker They had 8 children. My Gr Grandfather, Charles F., was b. in April of 1878. Family tradition says he was a cousin and sparring partner of Joseph Terrance "Terrible Terry" McGovern, the 1900 -1901 world boxing champion.
Anyway, I know there are many McDevitts out there
Margaret McDevitt McGovern died in 1902 in Allentown, PA. Any ideas on her origins would be greatly appreciated.
