This William McDill was the son of Nathaniel and Ann (Leslie?) McDill of SC, GA and Tallapoosa Co AL. He married Ann Sprewell in 1839 in Coweta Co AL and moved to AL in the 1840s. Sometime after his father's death in 1857 William moved to Pickens Co AL, where he apparently died before 1870.
Nathaniel McDill is believed to be the son of Nathaniel and Mary McDill, who arrived in Charleston in 1772 on the Pennsylvania Farmer. The will of the elder Nathaniel does not name his children, but there is a lot of circumstancial evidence tying the two men together. The younger Nathaniel lived in Abbeville Co SC in the 1820s and 1830s, then moved to Coweta Co about 1835. About 1851 he moved to Tallapoosa Co AL, where he died in 1857. I have not found all of the probate records pertaining to his estate, but I do have a deed that names William as one of the heirs.
