McDills in Scotland?

thank you--that's very helpful--it's good to have dates that i can start with. and what a troublesome time in scotland's history! so interesting.

any idea where in scotland they moved from? i'm in edinburgh, and i hope to make a trip over to Antrim County in Ireland someday soon, but it'd be really cool if i could find some info on this side of the Minch, too. :-)

here in Scotland, there are lots of McDills in Ayr, Kirkcudbright, and Lanarck, as far as i can tell just from looking around a bit.
