I am also working on this line. I am the gr-gr-gr-granddaughter of Milton and Eliza through their son, General Taylor McDill. I am having difficulty finding records of Eliza's parents and of Milton and Eliza's marriage. I have seen written that her parents were Bird Stegall and Abigail Conger, but I like to see records with my very own eyes, as Abigail's genealogy supposedly traces back to Chalemagne. Understandably, some genealogists have a little trouble with objectivity when they think their heritage traces back to people of importance. I have not yet been able to find on official records any proof that these Stegalls were her parents. Can you help? Also, on transcriptions of the 1860 St. Clair Co.,Al census, Milton and Eliza are incorrectly listed as McDonald on page 21. Any help on her parentage is appreciated.
