How far south in Georgia, Lisa? My search begins in Toombs County, GA,(between Lyons and Ohoopee, formerly part of Tattnall County), Georgia, with my paternal grandfather Elias Lafayette McDilda (married to Leila Beatrice Mathis who was previously married to a Powell). Like you, I have recently begun my search and don't have a whole lot of info, but would be willing to share what I do have. Also, would love to hear the story that you heard about the variation of the McDilda-Dilday name.
