Was your grandfather Edward Francis McDill, b. 12 Aug 1877? If so, I have located him in my copy of "The McDills in America". If you don't have the information from the book about this branch of the family and would like it, e-mail me directly with your snail mail address and I'll send you a photocopy of the info. If this is your grandfather, he may or may not have been related to the McDills in my husband's family (the book contains information about them in County Antrim, Ireland, where they were farmers and staunch Presbyterians). It also tells of their immigration to Charlestown, SC, in 1772.
